Terry Lee Bennett, 60, of Gainesville, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was born on March 25, 1965, in Hartland Township, Ohio, the son of John and Shirley (Foster) Bennett. Terry moved to the Gainesville area in 1998.
Terry worked in the maintenance department at John Soules Foods, a job he truly enjoyed. Prior to that, he spent many years as an intuitive and skilled contractor in the construction industry where he put his natural talents to use. He was hardworking and had the remarkable ability to fix just about anything, whether it had wires, wheels, or walls. He enjoyed politics, NASCAR and headlining sport events. Terry stayed on the move and was always the first to show up when someone needed help. If you called, he was already on his way, with tools in hand. He loved his family fiercely and kept them close, and he had the biggest heart and a larger-than-life personality. Until our souls meet, we will remember him for his devotion to family, his unstoppable work ethic, the way he lived life full throttle, and the impact he left on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Terry leaves behind his sons Brandon Bennett of Goshen, IN, Nicholas McGinn and Andrew Pruitt, both of Gainesville, GA; his daughters Alyssa Bennett of Elkhart, IN, Tabitha (Allan) Waters of Cumming, GA, and Katelyn Claus of Gainesville, GA and former wife, Mary Claus of Gainesville, GA; He is also survived by his grandchildren: Logan and Cameron Bennett of Goshen, IN; Orin Bennett of Elkhart, IN; and Vivian and Edward Evans of Gainesville, GA; siblings: Vaughn (Vanessa) Bennett of Solon, OH; Loretta May of Elkhart, IN; Paul (Marilyn) Bennett of Mantua, OH; Ricky (Tammy) Bennett of North Fairfield, OH; Earl Bennett of Pendergrass, GA; April (Matt) Ezell of Huron, OH; Geneva (Tony) Catalano of Milan, OH; Jason (Allison) Bennett of Norwalk, OH; Candie (Tom) Neuberger of Norwalk, OH; and sister-in-law Regina Bennett of Norwalk, OH; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
