Thelma Mae Hughes, age 86, of Gainesville, GA, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. She was born on October 15, 1939, to the late George and Carrie Rice. Thelma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She was of the Baptist faith. Thelma worked for AT&T for many years before retiring and beginning a new calling as a caregiver at the Resting Nest in Gainesville, GA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jake Hughes.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Liz and David Adams; grandchildren, Kasey Truelove and Kristen Truelove and fiancé, Tyler Pilgrim; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Betty Rice; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the wonderful caregivers at the Resting Nest.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA with Dr. Bill Coates officiating. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
