Tyler Stephens, 48, of Gainesville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Born on January 10, 1976, in Gainesville, Tyler was a passionate racing enthusiast whose love for the sport was evident in every aspect of his life.
Tyler was a gentle giant who never met a stranger. He was someone who cared, someone who paid attention. This shown through in how he interacted with his family and friends. Tyler was especially sought after at the Hardy Chevrolet Parts counter (being especially fond of cutting keys….lol)! Tyler was passionate about racing throughout his life. Starting with go-karts with Shane Seabolt through high school. Drag Races with his Uncle Wayne Gibson and NASCAR with his sister n law Terrie. He loved dirt tracking racing alongside Raymond Chastain and most recently with the Moody Shuler Racing Team. He created many a good time and made many memories in Panama City Beach, Florida with his family. He was fond of a good meal, earning him the nickname ‘Heavy’ by close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Clinton and Euphemia Stephens, and Miles and Annie Sue Shope.
Tyler is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Martha Sue and David Dougherty; siblings, Michelle (Kelvin) Davidson, and Kevin (Terrie) Stephens; nephews, Josh (Yocelin) Davidson, Kale (Stormie) Davidson, David (Emily) Stephens, and Mason Stephens; great nephews, Landon and Lane Stephens, and Asher and August Davidson; aunt, Sue Taylor; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Tyler's life will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m.
