Virginia May Swenson Obituary

Virginia May (Hansen) Swenson, 67 of Gainesville GA passed away December 30, 2020 with family and friends by her side.  Ginny was raised and married in Brooklyn and always remained a proud New Yorker despite living in Georgia for many years.

Virginia (Ginny) was preceded in death by her loving parents Anna and Karl Hansen and her brother Karl Hansen.  She is survived by her husband of 49 years Raymond Swenson, her sister Linda Louden, and her devoted children Kimberly Coleman (spouse- Jimbo), Lisa Nettleton (spouse-Todd), Christopher Swenson and Daniel Swenson.   Virginia was blessed with 8 grandchildren Emily Wilson (spouse-Christian), Madeline Coleman, J.R. Coleman, Cole Nettleton, Kyle Nettleton, Jack Swenson, Anna Swenson, and Katy Swenson and one great grandson- Jude Wilson. Ginny was a devoted pet parent and is survived by Roxy, her loving dog. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.

Virginia maintained her loving smile and quick wit while demonstrating poise during her 30 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  Her trademark response to how she was doing was always: “I am fine”

Ginny loved talking to anyone she came across and made friends quickly. She enjoyed music (especially when her husband Ray played the guitar) Hallmark Movies, crafting and sharing her creations, word puzzles, Oreos and M&M’s, and celebrating holidays and birthdays with her family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family asks that friends and family attend the service via live- stream in an effort to keep everyone safe.  A celebration of life will be held in the future - details to follow.
