Wilburn L. Roper

Wilburn Lawrence Roper went to be with our Lord, Monday, October 7, 2024, after an extended illness. He was 95 years old! Born on July 7, 1929, Mr. Roper was born in Barrettsville, GA. He was the son of the late, Claude and Myrtice.

He was married to his lifelong wife Dorotha Jeane Whelchel-Roper for 64 years before losing her on May 4, 2015. Mr. Roper had a very fulfilled life, with many great accomplishments. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Corporal over the 38 Infantry. After returning home from his time in the service, Mr. Roper obtained his private pilot’s license, which he held dearly. He was employed for 47 years as a manager of the cold storage division of Best Ice.

Wilburn is survived by his daughter Michelle Roper and granddaughter Alexis Saladin of Gainesville, GA; daughter and son-in-law Michea and Mark Papp of Gainesville, GA; niece, Gina Dorsey of Cumming, GA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Velner Roper of Villa Rica, GA.

Mr. Roper was an amazing father! Daddy you will be greatly missed!

Funeral service will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA with Rev. Steve Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
