Mary Elizabeth (Schick) Fisher, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in her WillowBrooke Court residence at Lanier Village Estates, Gainesville, GA.  Mary Elizabeth was born in Daytona Beach, FL on December 5, 1924.  

She grew up in Daytona Beach and graduated from Daytona Beach High School.  Further schooling was at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA, and Pensacola Junior College in Pensacola, FL.

She met and married Don Fisher, a US Navy pilot.  The couple shared a lifetime of happiness together, residing in Daytona Beach, FL; Klamath Falls, OR; Pasco, WA; Gainesville, FL; Fort Wayne, IN; Schenectady, NY; Milton, FL; Starksville, MS; Pensacola, FL; and finally, Gainesville, GA.

Mary Elizabeth shared common interests with Don, both loving to travel, read literature, and play bridge.  Mary Elizabeth’s distinctive interests were art and music.  She was a life member of the Florida Water Color Society.  She was an artist and owner of an art gallery.  She was also a vocalist who sang in her church and was frequently called upon to sing solos in weddings, funerals, and other special music events.

Mary Elizabeth and Don moved to Lanier Village Estates on December 29, 2005, making their home in Village East Apartment #2329.  They joined Gainesville First United Methodist Church and also participated in LVE’s Vesper worship services.  They couple was known for their quiet devotion to each other and Mary Elizabeth was the sweetest lady anybody could ever know.  Her countenance with its distinctive smile and sparkle in the eye will always be remembered.

An LVE Chapel service will be announced, and burial services will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Cherokee County.
