Mrs. Martha M. (Mauldin) Stickles

​Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. July 30, 2016  at Lanier Village Estates Chapel for Martha M. Stickles, 95, of Gainesville.  The Rev. Shon Peppers and Chaplain Richard Evans will officiate. 

Mrs. Stickles was born in Hampton, South Carolina to the late Joab and Mattie Griffin Mauldin.  She attended Georgia Southern College for Women, University of Georgia, Oglethorpe University and Emory University and went on to teach in the Atlanta and Gainesville City School systems for 20 years.

An avid bridge player who loved dancing, Mrs. Stickles was very active in the Lanier Village community and was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Mrs. Stickles was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Rowland D. Stickles. She is also survived by two daughters, Sandra Stickles Melton, Virginia Beach, VA and Marty Stickles Partain, Atlanta, GA; two grandsons, Matt Stickles Melton, Boulder, CO and Thomas Stickles Walker, Tampa, FL; one granddaughter, Patricia Anthony Melton-Burgess, Jamestown, NC,  and 5 great grandchildren, Sierra, Luke, Laurel, Logan and Caroline.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the National Emphysema Foundation, 15 Belden Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850 or the Building Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 800 South Enota Drive, Gainesville, GA  30501.
