I was fortunate to have been coached by Coach Green from 1968 - 1971. So sorry to read about his death. I am really sadden to learn he lived in Gainesville, as my work requires me to be there three days a week. I would have loved to have visited him and thank him for all the inspiration he gave me during my high school years at West Rome. Allen Carrington Class of 71!

Coach Green, his quiet nature & gentle speaking coach set the example I still try to follow today.

I am so sorry for your loss. Coach Green was greatly loved and respected while he coached at The Donoho School. Our family thought the world of him. My son was on his football team and my husband kept the stats for him during games. I am a member of the Donoho faculty and remember his kindness and devotion to everyone.
Coach Green was not only a great coach, he was a wonderful Christian role model for his students, as well as for the faculty. It was a pleasure to know him and work with him. I know he will be greatly missed.

Debbie and Bert, your parents meant so much to me during my time in high school. Your mom was a great teacher and it was my privilege to be under her tutelage on the annual staff. She is loved by all for her always positive spirit. Coach Green, along with the rest of the football coaching staff, meant so much to my brother Randy. They lovingly included him as part of the team as manager for five years! They worked him, cut him no slack, but encouraged him in the things he could do. They were his friends! My brother has always counted your Dad as a good friend! I will never forget that kindness and example. Coach Green is loved as a great role model by our family. He will be sorely missed! I had the joy of chatting with him on FB a few times in the last couple of years, wishing him a happy birthday and letting him know he is loved! May God comfort you in this sad time but be assured your large Chieftain family sends you much love and many prayers. Blessings, Pam Williams

I lived next door to the Greens in Rome and would babysit for Bert and Debbie often. Coach Green and his wife were my teachers at WRHS and we attended West Rome Baptist together. I have many find memories. My family loved them. Coach was a remarkable man and a powerful influence in my life. I will never forget him. Both of my parents are gone now so I'm sure they are having quite a reunion with Coach Green. Love and prayers for his family. RIP, Coach.

As a member of the Class of 1967 at West Rome High I will always fondly remember and appreciate the Christian example that both Coach Green and Mrs. Green portrayed. They were devoted to their children and to their profession of teaching. He will be sadly missed by so many, but all of us can rest assured that he is now safely in the arms of his Lord and Savior. I am praying for comfort and strength for all the family, and particularly for Mrs. Green, who was one of my very favorite teachers and inspired me to do my best.
