Tommy Nicholson

Tommy Nicholson, 89, of Gainesville passed away peacefully at his home on June 25, 2015.

Born in Alto, GA. on May 28, 1926, he was the son of the late Miles W. and Emma Wood Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson was a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church and the owner of Nicholson Insurance Agency. He was very active in business and civic associations, and for many years he enjoyed volunteer work at NE Georgia Medical Center.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of twin boys, Wilma W. Nicholson; three brothers, John, Avery and George; and four sisters, Annie, Molly, Bessie and Floyce.

Mr. Nicholson is survived by his wife, Kathleen Nicholson; son, James and wife Linda Nicholson of Fort Mill, S.C.; son Jack and wife Carolyn Nicholson of Tallahassee, FL; four grandsons; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mildred Nicholson; sister-in-law and husband, Darlene and Richard Franco of Winder.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church on Monday, June 29, 2015 with Dr. Tom Smiley officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
